The Ferrari F355, which came onto the market in spring 1994, set new standards in terms of performance with its groundbreaking technology and is considered one of the most important V8 models ever developed in Maranello. In contrast to the sharper and angular design of the 348, Ferrari returned to a more classic elegance with the F355, inspired by the style-defining elements of the iconic Ferrari 308 GTB and GTO of the 80s. The build quality has been significantly improved, and both brakes and clutch now reach the same high standard as the engine and chassis.

The F355's innovative V8 engine, with five valves per cylinder and a displacement of 3.5 liters, set new standards in performance technology. With an output of 380 hp - compared to the 348's 300 hp - the F355 had the highest specific horsepower per liter of any naturally aspirated engine. The engine was equipped with Formula 1 titanium connecting rods and lightweight forged alloy pistons and had a flat crankshaft and dry sump lubrication. The maximum speed of 8500 rpm underlined the sporty exclusivity of the engine. Thanks to the innovative design with five valves per cylinder, the intake was optimized, resulting in one of the most impressive and melodious engine sounds in Ferrari history. This extraordinary performance is also reflected in the sales figures: a total of more than 11,000 Ferrari F355s were produced, in the convertible, targa and coupe versions. In addition, around 100 vehicles were built specifically for racetrack use.
